What to test first on a new product page

A new product page gives you a starting point. The next step is to learn which changes help your shoppers understand the offer and buy with confidence.

1. The first screen
Check whether a visitor can identify the product, its main benefit and the next step without searching. Test a clearer headline or a more useful opening image before adding more content.

2. Product media
Show the product in use, its scale and the details that matter to the purchase. Choose one question your current images leave unanswered, then test a visual that addresses it.

3. The offer
Make the price, quantities and conditions easy to compare. If you offer packs or bundles, explain what is included and check that the displayed saving agrees with checkout.

4. Proof and reassurance
Use genuine reviews and accurate delivery, return and support information. Place the most relevant reassurance near the buying decision. Avoid adding unsupported claims or invented ratings.

5. The cart journey
Test the route from product selection to cart. Confirm quantities, options and totals on desktop and mobile. A page change is only useful if the complete journey still works.

Choose one test
Write a clear hypothesis, choose a primary measure and avoid changing several unrelated elements at once. Allow enough reliable data before drawing a conclusion. Results from another store are context, not a prediction for yours.
